The sustainability crisis: Analysis, engineering and sociology

The analysis is clear: We have transgressed seven planetary boundaries, engineering has provided solutions in terms of energy and mobility, but the socio-ecological transformation demands salient input by the social sciences. This symposium attempts to highlight our understanding of the systemic character of the sustainability crisis. This includes forecasts by natural sciences under different scenarios and contributions by engineering. But it also describes the driving forces and barriers we face and need to overcome for a sustainable future.

The Symposium will be organized and coordinated by the International Alliance of Societies for a Sustainable Future.
